Method of Construction:
Fabric Dyeing, Wrapping, Machine embroidery, Embedded silk fibres, Tatami wiring,
How I made it/Why I like it:
This simplistic piece is a tribute to bamboo, one of the most useful plants on the planet. I dyed cotton in mottled shades of green. Silk fibres were applied to the fabric and then free machined lengthwise. Cylinders of varying size were wrapped with the fabric and joined with painted paper covered wire. Hot-cut organza leaves were stitched to thread covered wires and attached. I like this piece because it is peaceful and reflective.
