There is definitely something special about having a piece of one’s work appear in a dedicated felt magazine. Recently sold, one of my pieces ‘Filament to Fantasy’ was featured in the December 2016 issue of the ‘FELT’ magazine.
The article reviewed the MACRO|micro exhibition held last August by Perth’s felting group –Feltwest.
The theme for this particular issue is ‘inspiration from nature’. 7 other exhibits from other Feltwest members are featured. Each piece is incredibly different as you can see below. The artists featured represent just a few of the many talented members of Feltwest. I have been a member of Feltwest for just over 2 years now, and love being part of this great group of creative ladies. Alas, not a male member in sight……

FELT Magazine
I highly recommend this magazine if you have a keen interest in felting and felt related techniques. The magazine just keeps getting better and even more so with new editor Martien van Zuilen. She is a respected felt maker both here in Australia and Overseas. The magazine is a wonderful resource with articles, information and projects. I have been lucky enough to attend workshops given by 4 of the felt-makers featured in the December 2016 issue.
Felt is published every June and December, covering all things felt related. It has a mix of wet and dry felting projects, 3D felt, machine embellished felt, wool felt, knit and fulled felt. The magazine also includes designer profiles and technique related articles. The publishers of Felt are Artwear publications Australia and distribute internationally and digitally.
Apart from actually experimenting with techniques and making felt, I really enjoy learning as much as I can. Due to some amazing tutors and books and magazines, I am not sure there are enough hours in the day! So I am looking forward to Issue 17 which is due out in June 2017.
